Security Director


Purpose of Position:

Work as a team player to accomplish the goal of providing and maintaining an environment of excellence. The primary focus is to manage all aspects of security as well as assisting and serving while promoting the vision of Opendoor.


Qualifications:

  • Exhibit abilities of leadership, training, support, and oversight of security
  • Assist in the day-to-day security of the Opendoor main campus
  • Develop and implement security plans, action plans, and assess campus needs
  • Be able to implement and train staff on security procedures and execute regular drill exercises
  • Be easily adaptable to growth and change
  • Have a healthy and motivating relationship with leadership, coworkers, volunteers, and community emergency response departments
  • Be able to lead a group of volunteers


Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and provide security, leadership, direction, and training for leadership, staff, teachers and volunteers
  • Coordinate local law enforcement for security and traffic detail on Sundays and various church events
  • Work with Opendoor Education to develop and implement security procedures for the Child Development Center, School, and After School
  • Develop and document security policies and procedures
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and monitoring of electronic surveillance systems
  • Participate in semester budget preparation to ensure adequate funds for operation of the Opendoor Security Department
  • Conduct risk assessments of premises for burglary, robbery, theft, and fire
  • Monitor weather during operation hours for potential safety threats from nature
  • Promote employee safety at work and home
  • Develop building exit plans for fire and disaster response
  • Coordinate first responder staffing for main campus

Education/Experience:

  • Minimum of ten years' law enforcement or public safety experience
  • Degree in Criminal Justice or related field preferred
  • Proven track record of investigative and supervisory skills
  • Ability to quickly learn and excel in the use of technology, including video surveillance systems
  • Experience in problem solving with troubled individuals
  • Ability to handle multiple projects effectively
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Skilled in conflict resolution

Physical Demands:

  • Armed and unarmed defense—physical ability to respond to emergency situations
  • Proficiency in control techniques for hostile persons
  • Conflict resolution
