Thursdays at 7:00pm

Sundays at 9:00am or 11:00am

Based on an exemption in Section 4 of Executive Order No. 141 from our North Carolina Governor, churches may resume public gatherings. We have taken enhanced health and safety measures—for you, our Dream Team, and our staff. Hand sanitizing stations will be available for everyone in attendance. We will do our absolute best to clean and sanitize thoroughly between all services.

As you may know, an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, senior citizens and attenders with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable. We encourage all attenders over the age of 65 or those who have a compromised immune system to worship with us online.

If you have had any of the following symptoms this week, please worship with us online:

  • Fever Over 100
  • Cough or Sore Throat
  • Shortness of Breath
  • Contact with anyone confirmed to have COVID-19 (in the past 14 days).

Opendoor Church plans to implement services in accordance with the state’s guidelines. While the specific guidelines for churches do not currently specify limitations of 35% or 50% max occupancy rates, the standards for physical distancing of Phases 2 and 3 are roughly consistent with these limitations. The primary bottlenecks for our campus are the hallways, restroom facilities, and children’s check-in/out areas. Maintaining the physical distancing in line with recommended guidelines will limit our capacity.

One of our greatest concerns is for the safety and well-being of our Opendoor family, our guests, and our community. However, by attending our services, you voluntarily assume all risks associated with exposure to COVID-19. Let's keep each other safe. With this in mind, our proposal is as follows for church services:

PHASE 1 — Begins May 7-10

  • Weekend services will continue ONLINE ONLY, and 3 service times will stay the same:

    • Thursday — 8:00pm

    • Sunday — 9:00am and 11:00am

  • Small Groups are encouraged to gather in homes and watch the services together in groups of 10 people or less.

PHASE 2 — Begins May 28-31

  • Weekend services will continue ONLINE for all service times, with 5 limited-capacity (35%) PHYSICAL opportunities offered:

    • Thursday — 7:00pm

    • Sunday — 8:30am, 10:00am, 11:30am, and 1:00pm

  • Details about these services:

    • Thursday night service time will return to 7:00pm.

    • For all services, we will have a 350 person capacity, dependent on health recommendations.

    • Opendoor Kids (6 weeks - 5th grade) will be fully operational during each service with strategic time between services to allow for disinfecting protocols, and we will have a checkout process in place designed to make it a quick transition back to their parents.

  • Details about seating:

    • To adequately prepare for guests, we are asking everyone who is planning on attending a service to reserve their seats on the Opendoor App.

    • We will do our best to accommodate as many people as we can in our services but will be limited in our capacity. Thank you for understanding.

    • There will be a streamlined check-in process before each service, to maintain appropriate social distancing.

    • Our Ushers will assign seating from front to back of the sanctuary for families and individuals to uphold social distancing regulations.

    • Families will sit by family unit, with 3-4 chairs spacing in-between on rows, potentially skipping every other row.

PHASE 3 — Begins June 25-28

  • Weekend services will continue ONLINE for all service times, with 3 moderate-capacity (40-50%) PHYSICAL opportunities:

    • Thursday — 7:00pm

    • Sunday — 9:00am and 11:00am

  • Details about these services:

    • We will be adjusting our service times back to 3 each weekend.

    • Masks will be available at sanitizing stations for your comfort.

    • Opendoor Kids (6 weeks - 5th grade) will still be fully operational during each service with continued disinfecting protocols between each service, and we will have a checkout process in place designed to make it a quick transition back to their parents.

  • Details about seating:

    • Attendance capacity will increase to 400-500, dependent on health recommendations.

    • We are encouraging families and individuals to maintain comfortable distancing when seated.
