Faithful

Here is a trustworthy saying:
If we died with Him,
We will also live with Him;
If we endure,
We will also reign with Him.
If we disown Him,
He will also disown us;
If we are faithless,
He remains faithful, for He cannot disown Himself.
If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot disown Himself. The character of God, His faithfulness, will always exist. His faithfulness is unchangeable, and His character can not be denied.
How many times have we been unfaithful to Jesus? In the smallest or biggest of ways, have you thought about how many times you have truly been unfaithful to Jesus? To be faithful means to remain loyal and steadfast. If someone is faithful, they are reliable. Can Jesus rely on you to every day take up your cross and follow Him? Can Jesus rely on you to talk with Him every day? Ask Him for direction in your life? Seek Him through His word? Can Jesus rely on you to tell others about Him? What about relying on you to pray for people?
There have been many times when I have been unfaithful to God. When I read the questions above, I am convicted. Where have I fallen short? Of course I could say I am a faithful follower of Jesus. But am I faithful in every aspect of what it means to take up my cross and follow Him?
While these thoughts bring conviction, they also bring so much hope. When we are faithless, He remains faithful. He is right here for you today. Wherever you left off, He is always waiting for you to come back. He is always excited to watch you recommit to Him in whatever way you have forsaken.
In what way do you need to recommit your faithfulness to Jesus today? Have you put off reading His Word? Have you become lazy in witnessing to others, like really telling others about Him? When was the last time you stopped when someone was talking with you about a problem and said, “Let’s stop and just pray about this right now.” Boldness. Have you been unfaithful in your boldness for Christ?
Jesus is moving in lives and hearts every moment of every day. He is knocking on the doors of hearts, and asking for the invitation in. If you’ve given your life to Christ, that is amazing and the first step towards a wonderful life with Christ. But I challenge you to visualize this today: God is knocking on the door to your heart, and He’s wanting something more from you. What is it?
Activation | Take time to pray and ask God how you can remain faithful to Him today. Ask in what ways are you not showing faithfulness to Him. Then, purpose to remain faithful in those areas. Tell someone you trust what God has revealed to you. Ask them to hold you accountable in that area.
Prayer | God, thank You for Your faithfulness even when I am so unworthy of it. Even when I am unfaithful, You will always be faithful to me. It’s who You are, and I am so grateful for that. Convict my heart where I need convicting. I want to be bold in my faithfulness to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
