Kept by God | Faithful, Part 9

Key Truth | Our confidence is not in our ability to hold on to God, but in His faithfulness to hold on to us.

Key Scripture | “Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, And to present you faultless Before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, To God our Savior, Who alone is wise, Be glory and majesty, Dominion and power, Both now and forever. Amen.”—Jude 24–25 (NKJV)

Jude ends exactly where every believer needs to end—not with fear, anxiety, or a list of things we need to do better. He ends with God.

Think about everything we've walked through in this letter. Jude has warned us about false teachers, exposed the dangers of compromise, urged us to contend for the faith, and challenged us to build ourselves up, pray in the Holy Spirit, remain in God's love, and extend mercy to those who are drifting. After reading all of that, it's only natural to wonder, Can I really remain faithful?

Jude answers that question with one breathtaking truth: God is able.

Our confidence has never rested in our own strength. It has always rested in His. Yes, God calls us to remain faithful. He calls us to obey, to stand firm, and to contend for the faith. But underneath every act of our faithfulness is the unshakable foundation of His faithfulness. We persevere because He first holds us.

When we are weak, He supplies strength. When we stumble, He is faithful to restore. When we grow weary, He renews us with His grace. The Christian life has never been about striving harder in our own power. It has always been about depending on the God who never fails.

Jude declares that God is able to keep us from stumbling. That doesn't mean we will never face temptation, struggle, or seasons of weakness. It means we are never left to face them alone. The same grace that rescued us continues to sustain us, and the same Savior who called us is committed to completing the work He began in us.

Then Jude lifts our eyes even higher. He gives us a glimpse of the day when every believer will stand in the presence of God's glory—not covered in shame, not barely accepted, and not reluctantly welcomed, but presented through the finished work of Jesus Christ with exceeding joy. What an incredible promise. The God who knows every failure, every weakness, and every hidden battle is also the God who has promised to finish what He started.

Faithfulness has never been the story of perfect people. It has always been the story of a perfect Savior who faithfully keeps imperfect people. That truth fills us with both humility and confidence—humility because we know we could never save ourselves, and confidence because we know Christ will never abandon those who belong to Him.

It's no wonder Jude ends his letter in worship. When we truly understand God's keeping power, praise becomes the only fitting response. All glory, majesty, dominion, and authority belong to Him because every step of our salvation, from beginning to end, is the work of His grace.

As we close this journey through Jude, remember what we've learned. We are called to contend for the faith, stand against compromise, build ourselves up in Christ, pray in the Holy Spirit, remain in God's love, and extend mercy to others. Yet above all those commands stands one unchanging promise: we are kept by God. That is our hope. That is our confidence. That is the song we carry into every season of life.

The book of Jude reminds us that faithfulness isn't about holding on to God with perfect strength. It's about trusting the God who faithfully holds on to us. And because He is faithful, we can be faithful.

In an age of compromise, God is not looking for louder Christians. He is looking for faithful ones.

Challenge | As you leave the book of Jude behind and step into the days ahead, carry this truth with you: you are not walking alone. The God who saved you is the God who sustains you, and the God who began His work in you will be faithful to complete it. So continue to walk closely with Christ, trust His Spirit to guide you, and live each day with confidence—not in your own strength, but in His unfailing faithfulness.

Reflection
  • When you think about your relationship with God, do you find yourself relying more on your own strength or on His keeping power?
  • How does knowing that God is faithful to keep you give you courage to remain faithful to Him today?

Prayer | Father, thank You that my hope rests not in my ability to hold on to You, but in Your unfailing ability to hold on to me. Thank You for Your grace that saves, Your Spirit that strengthens, and Your faithfulness that never lets me go. Help me to walk in humble obedience, confident that You are completing the work You began in me. May my life be marked by unwavering faithfulness, joyful worship, and complete dependence on Jesus Christ. To You alone be all glory, majesty, dominion, and authority forever and ever. Amen.
