Mountain-Moving Faith

“Your faith can move mountains, and your doubt can create them.” - Anonymous

What did you want to be when you were a little child? Maybe you had dreams of flying an airplane, teaching a third grade class, or becoming the President of the United States. Maybe you simply wanted to travel the world. Whatever it was, you believed with all of your heart that you could do it. Nobody could tell you differently. It’s that childlike faith we adults often miss most.

Journal: When you were a child, what did you dream about doing when you grew up?

It seems easy to dream big when we’re little. We’ve not yet been jaded by the realities of life. But God wants us to continue to dream even when we are grown. It is possible with Him. He created us to dream big dreams, make plans, and carry them out. He wants us to live the abundant life He created us to live, but all too often we let doubt and fear creep in.

For every dream God has instilled within us, Satan has a lie. The enemy is just waiting to derail our goals. We must fight the lies of the enemy with the Word of God so our faith can move mountains and our dreams can come true.

“Write this letter to the angel of the church in Philadelphia. This is the message from the one who is holy and true, the one who has the key of David. What he opens, no one can close; and what he closes, no one can open: “I know all the things you do, and I have opened a door for you that no one can close. You have little strength, yet you obeyed my word and did not deny me. Look, I will force those who belong to Satan’s synagogue—those liars who say they are Jews but are not—to come and bow down at your feet. They will acknowledge that you are the ones I love. “Because you have obeyed my command to persevere, I will protect you from the great time of testing that will come upon the whole world to test those who belong to this world. I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take away your crown. All who are victorious will become pillars in the Temple of my God, and they will never have to leave it. And I will write on them the name of my God, and they will be citizens in the city of my God—the new Jerusalem that comes down from heaven from my God. And I will also write on them my new name. “Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the churches. - Revelation 3:7-13 NLT

Journal: What is a lie the enemy has told you that has kept you from living out the dreams God has placed in your heart?

God has opened a door to your dreams; and what He opens, not even the enemy can close. It’s up to you to step through that door and claim those dreams for your own.

Activation: Fight the lies of the enemy with God’s truth.

Enemy’s Lie:   You’re not smart enough to understand or figure out what you’re supposed to do.
God’s Truth:    I’ve got you. Follow me, and I will lead the way.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. - Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT

Enemy’s Lie:   You’re too afraid to dream.
God’s Truth:    I didn’t create fear in you. I gave you all of the tools you need to dream and achieve your goals in life.
For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. - 2 Timothy 1:7 NLT

Enemy’s Lie:   You’re too tired to go on.
God’s Truth:    I will give you rest so that you can go on to do great things!
Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” - Matthew 11:28-30 NLT

Enemy’s Lie:   It is not possible for you to achieve your dreams.
God’s Truth:    Anything is possible when you’ve got Me on your side.
He replied, “What is impossible for people is possible with God.” - Luke 18:27 NLT

Enemy’s Lie:   Nobody is there for you. You’re all alone. You can’t do this on your own.
God’s Truth:    I am always here for you. You’re never alone. I will be with you every step of the way.
“Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” - Hebrews 13:5 NIV
This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” - Joshua 1:9 NLT

Prayer: Pray these verses and ask God to help you remember them when the lies of the enemy threaten to derail your God-given dreams.
