Out of Control

Recently, I found myself in a rut. Quite honestly, my own thoughts were driving me NUTS!
I started to question and doubt what I knew to be true and His truth.  It was because I hadn’t seen the fruit nor the proof of God’s promise in a certain area of my life.

Releasing control over a certain situation, relationship, or circumstance looks very different in the Kingdom versus the world.

God says trust
The world says control.
God says come to me;
The world says run and flee
God says make peace;
The world says keep peace.
God says pray first
The world says worry more

If we are going to bring peace into a situation, we can’t focus on keeping the peace, rather, we must work for peace.

God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God. - Matthew 5:9 NLT

Peacemakers pursue a spirit of unity.
Peacemakers make boundaries, not walls.
Peacemakers lay down personal preferences, not personal convictions

All of this takes faith. Sometimes the Holy Spirit wants us to take a step of faith before He directs our next move. This one is hard to swallow but even more difficult to process.

JOURNAL: What hinders your next steps or next move in a situation or relationship?

Old ways of thinking produce old ways of living. Will we trust Him at His word or will we revert back to fear and old ways of thinking?

Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes.  Put on your new nature, created to be like God— Ephesians 4: 23-24 NLT

Remember Thomas or who some call Doubting Thomas? We all have been Thomas, and I love how Jesus shows him proof, but He also gently reminds and redirects Thomas on what is TRUE.

Now Thomas , one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.” A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.” Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!” Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” - John 20: 24-31

If you find yourself in a rut or in old ways of thinking, remember that God is present and near, always ready to listen when we are dealing with doubt and fear.

PRAY: Holy Spirit , I need Your help. I am weary and weak trying to make things happen. When I don’t see the promise, let me rely on Your Word as my truth! I submit this situation to You, and I release it /them to You. You are the God who holds all things together. You are PEACE.

In His Love and Peace ,
