Lord, Here I Am

Throughout this message series, we have explored the generational nature of God in His promise to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; and in doing so, we’ve also unpacked the importance of discerning God’s vision for our lives, leaning into the purpose He has for us, and leaving a legacy for future generations. It’s not enough that we just coast through each day. God has so much more that He wants for our future. We must determine to live a life full of purpose and follow God’s calling even though we don’t always understand.

JOURNAL: What is something God has shown you through this message series and the devotionals?

Here at Opendoor, we are a generational house. We believe strongly in investing in the next generation, but we also believe in paying tribute to those who came before us. We honor up, down, and all around. Following God’s calling on our lives doesn’t just affect us personally, it affects those around us and the legacy we leave behind. It is our responsibility to walk out God’s vision for our lives.

JOURNAL: What do you believe God has called you to do? How does obeying His call on your life affect those around you and those who come behind you?

Maybe you didn’t come from a Christian family, or maybe there was a time you strayed from your faith. It’s never too late to step into God’s purpose for your life. God created each one of us with special gifts and talents. He didn’t make a mistake when He formed you the way that you are. Just as He is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, He is the God of you, and He wants the very best for your life.

Nevertheless, each person should live as a believer in whatever situation the Lord has assigned to them, just as God has called them. This is the rule I lay down in all the churches. - 1 Corinthians 7:17

Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. - Philippians 3:12-14

He has saved us and called us to a holy life — not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. - 2 Timothy 1:10

PRAYER: Pray the words of this old hymn.

Take my life and let it be
consecrated, Lord, to thee.
Take my moments and my days;
let them flow in endless praise,
let them flow in endless praise.

Take my hands and let them move
at the impulse of thy love.
Take my feet and let them be
swift and beautiful for thee,
swift and beautiful for thee.

Take my voice and let me sing
always, only, for my King.
Take my lips and let them be
filled with messages from thee,
filled with messages from thee.

Take my silver and my gold;
not a mite would I withhold.
Take my intellect and use
every power as thou shalt choose,
every power as thou shalt choose.

Take my will and make it thine;
it shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart it is thine own;
it shall be thy royal throne,
it shall be thy royal throne.

Take my love; my Lord, I pour
at thy feet its treasure store.
Take myself, and I will be
ever, only, all for thee,
ever, only, all for thee.
