Will You Worship In Your Wilderness?
Has there been a time in your life that just felt like a huge mess? In these moments, life may feel turned upside down; and no matter what you try to do, it will just not turn around.
About ten years ago, I experienced a period of time in the wilderness. I thought that I was alone, questioned God as to why the circumstances were not changing, and began to let my identity be defined by the situation that I was in and not in what God had called me to be. I prayed and sought godly wisdom, but I still was not getting my desired outcomes or answers. I was trying to do it on my own and did not fully trust God to take care of my problems. There was a pivotal moment when I thought, "I can continue to worry or I can worship in the wilderness."
Through worship during that time, I gave it all to God, I knew that I could not handle it on my own. I began to praise God for the people He placed in my life, for the lessons that were being learned. I praised Him for how things fell into place that could have only happened because His hand was in the situation, and for the strength and grace that only He could provide. I began to claim my identity in Christ, not from the situation. God’s will for our lives is far more beautiful than we could ever imagine.
As I look back and reflect, I can see how God was with me every step of the way. God can use any situation for His glory.
"The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged." - Deuteronomy 31:8 (NIV)
I urge you to take heart in this verse. There is no situation that you will ever enter that God will not be with you. You are a child of God, and that is where you find your identity.
PRAYER: Lord, thank You for Your almighty presence; we are never away from You. Thank You for desolate places where we can seek and find You. You provide everything that we could ever need. Please help us to always search for our identity in You and stay attuned to who You call us to be. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.
