Warring Worship

When we look around at the world today, we see evidence of war, not just the physical war that rages on foreign land but a spiritual war right here on our doorstep. This war wages against our culture, our families, our marriages, and our church. It threatens our children, our finances, even our minds. We have a responsibility not only to fight back but to wage war against the oppressor ourselves.

We think we can only defend our lives against the attacks of the enemy, but what if we could stop them before they even come our way? God has called us to proactive warfare that does just that. Everywhere we step foot, we are to drive out darkness and bring in the light, and one of the most effective ways is through worship.

Yet you are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel. Our ancestors trusted in you, and you rescued them. They cried out to you and were saved. They trusted in you and were never disgraced.—Psalm 22:3-5

Worship is our primary weapon against the enemy. It seems almost too simple to be true. When we open our mouths and lift our hands in praise, something extraordinary happens. God sets up a throne of judgment on our praises and opens the courtroom of heaven. It is here, wherever you are in worship, that He executes judgment against those who seek to bring you harm.

READ: Luke 18:1-8 (TPT)

There is power in asking for God’s judgment. He’s our Father who only wants our best. But it’s not just enough to think it. The kind of praise that opens the courtroom of heaven is one that involves our mouth and body. It requires a sacrifice of comfort, a true test of our faith. We must lift our voices and hands as we lift up His name.

It may not come easy at first. We all come from different backgrounds, denominations, and places. Active worship may be brand new to you. God honors those that step out of their comfort zone to worship Him. Whether it be in your car, at your desk, or in the gym, praise Him. When you first open your eyes in the morning or lay your head down at night, praise Him. Make it a habit to sing praises to Him all day long.

Praise activates the judgment of God on the enemy. Your breakthrough may be one praise away! Take a step of faith and praise His name today.

JOURNAL: What is God telling you about your own personal worship right now?

ACTIVATION: Over the next few days, step out of your comfort zone and lift God’s name in praise with both your mouth and your hands. At the end of the week, reflect on how this simple act of obedience made an impact in your life.

PRAYER: Pray Psalm 103.

Father in Heaven, let all that I am praise You; with my whole heart, I will praise Your holy name. May I never forget the good things You have done for me. You forgive my sins and heal all my illnesses. You redeem me from death and crown me with love and tender mercies. You fill my life with good things. You have made the heavens Your throne; from there, You rule over everything. You bring justice to the enemy when he comes against me. Your armies of angels listen for Your command and carry out Your plans. In spite of my weakness, You are compassionate and merciful, slow to anger, and filled with unconditional love. I praise You, Lord, and everything You created, everything in all Your Kingdom. Let all that I am, praise You. Amen
