Surrendered Heart
“Spiritual life is neither an art nor a science. To arrive at union with God, all one needs is a heart resolutely determined to apply itself to nothing but Him, do nothing but for His sake, and to love Him only.” - The Practice of the Presence of God
In 1 Samuel 1, Hannah was accused by Eli the Priest of being drunk in the Tabernacle because she was praying her heart out. She said, “I haven't been drinking wine or anything stronger. But I am very discouraged, and I was pouring out my heart to the Lord. Don't think I am a wicked woman! For I have been praying out of great anguish and sorrow.”
As Hannah entrusts the longings of her heart to God, He moves on her behalf. In the dry seasons of our spiritual life, when we are feeling distant from God and don’t want to pray, these are the times it's most important to surrender our feelings and ourselves to Him. That's where He meets us just as He met Hannah and produced the most wonderful result: Samuel.
Hannah’s experience in the tabernacle demonstrates the best way to handle situations that we have no control over, which is pretty much everyday life. We don’t have control, but we know the God who does. She sought God for what only He could do.
My prayer for you is that you would seek Him out in prayer just as Hannah did, not just in times of need but in every situation. He wants you to share your day with Him. He loves you and cares about the things you care about. No matter how small they may seem.

PRAYER: Read 1 Samuel 2, Hannah’s Prayer of Praise, out loud to Him
