Shining Star

If you’re like me, you may catch yourself complaining without even realizing it. Here’s a little confession. I was praying while driving one morning; and in the middle of my prayer, I honked and threw my hands up at a driver in front of me. My flesh took over before I knew it.

Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation. Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life. - Philippians 2:14-16

I most certainly was not a shining star that morning. Talk about being convicted!

John 15:5 says, if we remain in Him, He will remain in us. Staying connected to God’s Word helps produce positive thinking. It encourages us to respond kindly during conflict.

Holding firmly to the Word of Life is what helped Paul praise in the pit of prison. He wrote to Philippi that he would rejoice even in his death. (Philippians 2:17) How can we praise The Lord during conflict, sadness, or disappointment?

Pastor Tyler Braden made some great points in a recent message that I believe speaks to how we can rejoice even in hard situations. He said, “experiencing the joy of God comes from a mind surrendered to His Word.” We must stay engaged with God’s Word and in His presence. Pastor Tyler also said, “right thinking leads to right living.”

I want to encourage you to check out Pastor Tyler’s message here.

Prayer:  Lord, thank You for encouraging us through Your Word. Help us to remain in You and connected to Your source of life.
