Is Jesus Enough?
“Is Jesus Enough?”
This single question has continually presented itself in conversations, messages, podcasts, and staff meetings over the last few months. At first, I didn’t give it much thought. Of course, Jesus is enough. I know this. I believe this. I’ve lived this truth for most of my life.
But while it feels like Christianity 101, its persistent recurrence finally caught my attention. It pushed me to wrestle with a deeper question:
If Jesus is enough, where is this truth currently evident in my life?
Recently, my husband, Jake, preached on this very topic at a College Night service. As I sat in the front pew listening, I found myself whispering desperate prayers that this truth would anchor the hearts of the students in the room. I knew this realization could transform how they see the world and navigate their lives.
But as the service ended and we headed home, a thought lingered: He never told us why Jesus is enough.
That thought wasn’t a critique but a call. I sensed the Holy Spirit whisper, "Jake can’t answer that question for you or anyone else. Only you can decide if and why."
The realization hit deeply. Knowing Jesus is enough isn’t a truth we inherit or borrow from someone else’s testimony. It’s an ongoing decision and revelation we must claim for ourselves.
So I ask you, as I ask myself, is Jesus enough for you?
If He is, where is it evident in your life?
If the pursuit of Him is all that there is to gain, would that be enough too?
ACTIVATION: This week, actively look for moments when you’re tempted to fill a need with something other than Jesus. Pause in those moments, and instead, declare, “Jesus, You are enough.”
JOURNAL: Write down what you notice during these pauses and how God meets you in that space.
PRAYER: Jesus, thank You for being my all sufficient Savior. Help me to see the evidence of Your sufficiency in my life and teach me to trust You completely. Strengthen my heart to rest in the truth that You alone are enough, even when life feels incomplete. Open my eyes to experience more of Your fullness. Amen.
The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid? - Psalm 27:1
