Where Are You Facing?
Growing sunflowers track the sun's movement across the sky to receive the maximum amount of sunlight while they are still growing. While the sun travels east to west, the sunflowers face tracks right along with it. I have always found that fact interesting in relation to our spiritual walk as young Christians. Where are you facing? Some of us may be facing Jesus, our phones, or maybe our feet.
A lot of times, we may not know where we are facing until tragedy strikes.
"For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless." Psalms 84:11
I’ve been caught looking at my feet a few times. Focused on myself and tuning out the world. Wondering why I don’t have the strength to take a step out. Frozen in time. I've been distracted, stuck in a cycle of living life to get by and unable to see what's coming next. BUT, I have also been facing Jesus, so enthralled with Him and His unconditional love that I wasn’t worried about what was coming around the corner because I KNEW that I knew He had me.
Depending on which of these you are right now will tell us where your hope is also. As you take account of where you are facing right now, I’m praying that you have the courage to look up and see Him for who He really is. He is a good Father. He loves you as much as He loves the person next to you. He wants you to call on Him, not just in your time of need. But in your everyday routine. Reach for Him. He is there to take your hand and walk with you in every stage of life. The good, the bad and everything in between.
“In the same way God wanted to demonstrate more clearly to the heirs of the promise that his purpose was unchangeable, and so he intervened with an oath, so that we who have found refuge in him may find strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us through two unchangeable things, since it is impossible for God to lie. We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, sure and steadfast, which reaches inside behind the curtain, where Jesus our forerunner entered on our behalf, since he became a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek.” Hebrews 6:17-20 NET
JOURNAL: Take note of where you are facing and turn your eyes to Jesus and the Truth in His Word.
Prayer: Thank you for the trials. Thank you for continuing to pull us closer to you and showing yourself as a trustworthy and loving Father.
