Love is Hopeful

Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. - 1 Corinthians 13:7
Have you ever prayed for something for so long that you sometimes realized you had stopped consistently praying for that situation because you had accepted it as a reality? Maybe it felt good to let go of it for a little while. Maybe, deep down, you realized you were actually tired of being hopeful for that situation.
I don’t like to get my hopes up and have them dashed, time after time. I don’t think many of us do. It’s not fun. It can cause us to want to give up. It can cause us to want to let go of strong faith for that situation. In reading through 1 Corinthians 13, I asked God to speak something to me. As I read this in verse 7, "Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance," I realized, if I truly love, then always remaining hopeful is necessary. Remaining hopeful is walking in love.
One definition of hope says, “hope is grounds for believing that something good may happen.”
If we are believers, we have grounds for believing that something good may happen in our circumstance. As believers, our hope is rooted in God, and not ourselves. Romans 12:12 reminds us to, “Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying.”
Be confident in hope. Keep on praying. This is an act of love.
Today, operate in love. I’m sure we all think we are loving people and would even say we have love for others. But if you have true love, know that love is always hopeful. It is ok to get your hopes up today. Stay hopeful. Don’t block yourself from believing that at just the right time, God will reveal the answer to your prayer in such a way that you will have ultimate peace. He is sovereign in all situations, and He holds your heart and hopes in His hands. Keep the faith, keep the hope, keep operating in love.
Take some time to look up the following verses about hope today. I hope they will encourage your heart.
READ: Jeremiah 29:11, Romans 5:5, Romans 15:3, Psalm 42:5
PRAYER: Ask God to fill you with confident hope today for whatever situation you may feel yourself losing hope or faith for. Commit to praying for this situation despite how you feel, and trust that God is moving even now in this situation. Have hope today as you walk in the love of God.
