Remember Where You Found Him

Go back to where you started and remember.
It sounds simple, doesn’t it? When it was spoken by my mentor, I would think to myself, You’re going to have to start over, Gina, and then maybe you will get it right this time. I knew this wasn’t truth, but it was the lie I was believing at the time.
Anytime I felt discouraged, fearful, empty, or overwhelmed, she would firmly and lovingly point me back to the beginning.
So I would take her simple words filled with wisdom and allow Jesus to have my worries as I began to write and remember.
Remember where you found peace.
Remember the promises in His Word.
Remember the power of prayer.
Remember to abide in His love.
Remember that in His presence there is joy.
Remember there is no mountain He wouldn’t climb to rescue you, to be with you.
I was drawn to my very first devotional that was gifted to me in 1993, My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers. I came across these words:
“There is no condition of life in which we cannot abide in Jesus. We have to learn to abide in Him wherever we are placed.”
Where have you been placed? Where do you find yourself? Are you content? Are you disappointed?
Do you like where you have been placed?
Maybe you had no choice, or maybe you did.
Wherever you find yourself, let’s allow Jesus’ prayer for His disciples to encourage us today:
“I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world. I am not asking you to take them out of the world, but that you keep them safe from the evil one. They do not belong to the world just as I do not belong to the world. Set them apart in the truth; your word is truth. Just as you sent me into the world, so I sent them into the world. And I set myself apart on their behalf, so that they too may be truly set apart.” – John 17:14–19
We are called to be set apart unto Him. Sanctification means being made one with Jesus.
“Sanctification is not something Jesus Christ puts into me; it is Himself in me.” — Oswald Chambers
My prayer for you today, in Paul’s words:
“Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:23
Go back to where you started and remember. Today is a new day. You’re not starting over; you’re just beginning.
“We put our hope in the Lord. He is our help and our shield. In Him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in His holy name. Let your unfailing love surround us, Lord, for our hope is in You alone.” – Psalm 33:20–22
Prayer | Heavenly Father, Thank You for reminding us to return to the place where we first met You, to remember Your peace, Your promises, and Your faithfulness. Help us to rest in Your presence and trust the place You’ve set us in today. Teach us to abide in You, to find joy in Your nearness, and to see this season not as a restart but as a new beginning with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
