Created for This Moment | Called Beyond Comfort, Part 1

Key Thought | God places His people where they are for a reason—your calling is not accidental, even when God feels quiet.

Key Scripture | “Who knows if perhaps you were made queen for just such a time as this?” — Esther 4:14

Mordecai refused to bow to Haman even though everyone else did. It seems like such a small detail in the story, but that quiet act of faithfulness set a much larger story in motion. Mordecai understood something important: some things are simply not ours to give. His allegiance belonged to God alone.

But Mordecai’s decision placed the Jewish people in danger, and suddenly Esther found herself facing an impossible choice. She was safe in the palace, but silence would mean abandoning her people. Speaking up could cost her life.

When Mordecai sent word to Esther, his message was simple but profound:

“Who knows if perhaps you were made queen for just such a time as this?” — Esther 4:14

In other words, Esther, your position may not be about comfort. It may be about purpose.
Sometimes we want God to remove us from hard moments, but God often places us directly in them because He intends to work through us there. Esther could have stayed quiet and protected herself, but instead she chose to trust God.

Before she took action, she asked the people to fast and pray. Esther understood that courage is not something we manufacture on our own — it grows when we depend on God.
Even though the book of Esther never directly mentions God’s name, His presence is woven through every moment of the story. The same is true in our lives. There are seasons when God feels quiet, when His hand is not obvious, and when we wonder where He is.

Yet Scripture reminds us:

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you.” — Isaiah 43:2

God does not promise we will avoid difficult moments, but He promises we will never face them alone.

The truth is, the places we feel the most pressure are often the very places where God has placed us with purpose. What feels like an interruption may actually be an assignment.

You may not have chosen the moment you’re in right now, but that does not mean God didn’t place you there.

You were created for this moment.

If God has placed you here, He will also sustain you here. Don’t let fear of personal loss keep you from your kingdom assignment. Take one brave step of obedience today.

Prayer | Lord, Help me see my life through Your purpose. When I feel quietness from heaven, remind me You are still near. Give me courage to obey even when it costs me comfort. Use my “yes” for Your glory and for the good of others. Amen.

Reflection
  • Where am I tempted to stay quiet when God is asking me to be courageous?
  • What “one step” of obedience can I take today instead of waiting until I feel ready?
