Still Standing | Stand Firm, Part 10

Key Truth | Victory does not always mean avoiding the battle. Sometimes victory looks like coming through it still trusting, still worshiping, and still standing.
Key Scripture | “Then after the battle you will still be standing firm.” — Ephesians 6:13
We tend to recognize victory when something visibly changes.
The prayer is answered. The battle ends. The relationship heals. The provision comes. The thing that once felt impossible finally turns around.
Those are beautiful victories, and we should celebrate them.
But as I have walked through life, I have come to believe there is another kind of victory we sometimes overlook. Sometimes the testimony is simply this:
You are still standing.
At the beginning of Ephesians 6, Paul tells believers to be strong in the Lord. Then he describes armor, enemies, fiery arrows, resistance, prayer, and battle. And tucked into the middle of it all is one simple picture of victory: After the battle, you will still be standing firm. I love that.
Because sometimes we imagine victory will always look dramatic. The mountain disappears. The enemy runs away. The prayer is answered exactly as we hoped.
Sometimes God absolutely works that way. But there are other victories we may not recognize at first.
You walked through something you never wanted to face, and you still believe God is good.
You experienced disappointment, and you are still worshiping.
You had questions you could not answer, and you kept praying.
You were tempted to walk away, become bitter, shut down, or give up, but somehow the grace of God kept holding you.
And now you are still standing.
Not because you were strong enough.
Because He was.
That is the message running through this entire series.
The Spirit is my weapon, praise is my declaration, and His Word is my foundation.
The Spirit helps us see what we cannot see and pray when we do not have words. The armor of God protects what the enemy wants to attack. Prayer keeps us surrendered. Scripture gives us truth. Praise redirects our attention toward God. And through all of it, Jesus remains our victory.
Romans 8 says that overwhelming victory is ours through Christ.
Not because trouble never comes, but because nothing that comes against us can separate us from His love.
There will always be things in life that shake us. But Hebrews reminds us that we belong to a Kingdom that cannot be shaken.
So we keep praying.
We keep praising.
We keep returning to the Word.
And by the grace of God, we keep standing.
Maybe you have been measuring victory by whether the battle has ended. Consider another possibility.
Perhaps the evidence of God’s faithfulness is already visible in the fact that after everything you have walked through, you are still here.
Still trusting.
Still worshiping.
Still standing.
Reflection
Prayer | Father, thank You for every moment Your grace has kept me standing. Thank You for Your Spirit, Your Word, Your presence, and the victory Jesus has already secured. When battles come, help me remember where my strength comes from. Teach me to pray, worship, trust, and remain rooted in truth. May my life testify that You are faithful and that nothing can separate me from Your love. In Jesus’ name, amen.

- Looking back, where can I see that God has sustained me through something I once thought I could never endure?
- What practices from this series do I want to intentionally carry forward into the battles ahead?
