Waiting Impatiently

There is always something we are praying for or against, that thing that weighs heavy on our heart. Loneliness, old shame, sickness, a new house, a better car, a reliable friend - What is that thing for you?

Consistency isn't the issue for me. I'm pretty good about praying for the things I need and have never had trouble asking God for help. My family and I had been praying for a house for a while. There was always something that came up that set us back. Every bid we put on a house was denied. That season of waiting was about five years long. I would love so much to tell you that I was patient, and my prayers were not whiny. But I can't.

Philippians 4: 6-7 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

I know firsthand that when you are in a season of waiting, the last thing we want to hear is to “keep praying and asking, and He will provide,” but we must keep trusting Him because what He has in store for us is so much better than what we can make happen on our own!

Jacob waited 14 years for Rachel. Jesus waited 30 years to begin His ministry. David had to wait 22 years to be king after he was anointed. We can wait too.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28

JOURNAL: Journal and ask God what you can do while you wait.

PRAYER: “God, what is the next right thing? Your Scripture says that You turn things for the good. That means time is not wasted, and we hold tight to that promise today. Give me Your eyes in this season so I don’t miss a thing.”`
